Special Stitch: Bobble Stitch (BO)

The bobble stitch gives the strawberry its raised, textured appearance. To make a 4-dc bobble:

  • Yarn over and insert your hook into the indicated stitch.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop.
  • Yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops on your hook.
  • Repeat Steps 1–3 three more times in the same stitch. You should now have 5 loops on your hook.
  • Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops.
  • One bobble stitch is complete.

Note: Bobbles are worked on wrong-side rows so they protrude toward the right side of the strawberry.

Pattern Notes

The strawberry body is crocheted in turned rows, beginning at the pointed bottom.

The beginning ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
Increases are worked at both ends of selected rows to create the strawberry shape.
Bobble stitches count as one stitch each.

The right side is the side where the bobbles protrude. And, the body is made as one flat piece without stuffing. Stitch counts are shown in parentheses at the end of each row.
